My series Rejoicing in our Differences expresses my love for the diversity of America. To counter the negativity of our times, I imaged moments of joy in everyday life. Good memories can fuel our hope and help us build a better future. Inspired by jigsaw puzzles, but finding a vacuum in their subject matter, I created a kind of “Modern Americana” that capture moments when our favorite activities have been made accessible for all people of different colors, cultures, religions, and disabilities, enjoying their common interests and pastimes.

Farmers Market

Oils on canvas 24x36. $4,800.00

Another image inspired not only by Oak Park, but the many enjoyable memories I have had at farmers markets. I am so pleased that so many communities are creating community gardens, or inviting local farmers to sell their goods. A great way to counter “food deserts” and for people from diverse backgrounds to enjoy a healthy outing. Jigsaw puzzles of this image are available in website store. Limited Edition prints are available.

Halloween In Oak Park

Acrylic on canvas. 24x36 $4,800.00

Inspired by an actual Halloween on my way home from work in Oak Park IL. I’d never seen the streets so crowded with such a diverse group of kids! It was right at twilight and I wanted to capture the memory. Limited Edition prints sill soon be available in website store, and I have created an expanded version of this image as jigsaw puzzles! Check out my store for more details.

Art Fair

Oils on canvas 24x36. $4,800.00

As a professional artist, I have done many outdoor art shows. I love twilight when the tents are glowing! This one is meant to be in early September, when the days are short enough to have children about at twilight, but warm enough for comfort. Inclusivity is important, so there is a person in a wheelchair and two deaf women conversing in Sign Language. I am planning to make jigsaw puzzles of this image. Limited Edition prints are available in website store.
